"Thanks again for noticing these weird little 'toons of mine..."
Here we are, back again, with a look at a year's worth of odd sf-fandom artworks. Once again enough nominators for the Hugo awards seemed to have enjoyed what I did enough (or at least couldn't think of any other names), to nominate me for the Fan Artist Hugo this year. Last year I told Scott Bobo, who was kind enough to stand in for me at the Hugo ceremonies at Worldcon, to not worry at all about having to have a speech or anything ready. Just to enjoy the ceremony and getting to sit with some of the really talented artists and writers he would be around there. If I was a betting man (which would mean if I had any spare change at all), I would have laid money on my not winning, especially after the surprise win of 2009. So probably no one was more shocked than me when I found out I had won. Of course, when I saw the final voting numbrs, I realized it wasn't so much that I won, as it seemed people were using me to make some sort of point to vote against someone else. Many of the Hugo categories are getting kind of complicated and controversial as new technologies change what can or cannot be considered eligible, and it looks like the Fan Artist category is now a part of that. Be curious to see what hapens this year for sure!
So, following tradition, I've assembled this list of sf-fandom 'zines I had some sort of artwork in in 2011, covering both in-print and on-line sources. It was a fun year for me, sending out lots of my crazy doodles and finding homes for them. Didn't do quite as many large-format pieces as in past years, but those I did get to do I was quite pleased with, and nice to be able to do so much color work now, after decades of everything having to be in black and white.
Below the images of the large pieces is a full listing of all zines with my art for 2011. Where possible, I've added a link that will take you right to the entire fanzine to check out. These days, even folks who are still known mainly for publishing in print will often put up an online version as well, so it's possible to see a lot more of these.
(And, as I note on every page here, don't forget to check out my main site, where I do the pro-artist thingy, at Jabberwocky Graphix. Buy soon, and buy often, so I can continue to support my fannish habit here!)

Here is the full list of sf zines that published some of my art in 2011, both in print and on-line. More and more of these, even if they have print editions, are also putting up on-line versions, so I've provided links where I can find them. (And remember, many of these editors are always happy to have new contributors, so don't make me do all of this by myself- send some of your own writing and art to them and join the fun! There's no money to be made here, but if we wanted to be rich, wouldn't we all have real jobs?)
