Brad Foster - and one of his young friends
"Okay, you guys are being much too nice to me this year. But, that's okay!"
So, first I am totally floored by being asked to be one of the Guests of Honor at the 2015 Worldcon in Spokane, the wonderfully named "Sasquan". At first I was going to ask them if they had really gone through the entire list of better and more famous artists than me before giving me the call. Then I realized they might double check on that, and there would go my invite. So, I played it close to the vest and just said "Thanks! I'll be there!!" Guess it just goes to show: if you do a couple of thousand drawings over several decades, eventually someone might notice you. So, keep on drawing kids!

But then, to top off the year, I find out I am also on the final Hugo ballot for Fan Artist once again. As the years go by, I am more and more surprised each time I end up there. But even more so this time, as what has been traditionally thought of as a "fan" artist has been going through some changes. Still, like with the invite to be a GoH, far by it from me to argue with someone who wants to be nice and compliment me.

So, here we go again, I've put together this list of those pieces of art I had published in 2014 in science fiction fandom. If you've stumbled across this page while Google-searching to try to figure out who the hell this "Brad Foster" is on the Hugo ballot, then this is the stuff I drew that came out last year that makes me eligible for the award.

I've picked some of the larger pieces, usually covers, to showcase in the top rows of art shown. After that you'll find a full listing of all zines with my art for 2014. Where possible, I've added a link that will take you right to the entire fanzine to check out. These days, even folks who are still known mainly for publishing in print will often put up an online version as well, so it's possible to see a lot more of these.

(Finally, as I note on every page here, don't forget to check out my main site, where I do the pro-artist thingy, at Jabberwocky Graphix. Buy soon, and buy often, so I can continue to support my fannish habit!)

Here is the full list of sf zines that published some of my art in 2013, both in print and on-line. More and more of these, even if they have print editions, are also putting up on-line versions, so I've provided links where I can find them. (And remember, many of these editors are always happy to have new contributors, so don't make me do all of this by myself- send some of your own writing and art to them and join the fun! There's no money to be made here, but if we wanted to be rich, wouldn't we all have real jobs?)
