I've always been fascinated by the "Alice In Wonderland" stories of Lewis Carroll, and when it came time to come up with a name for my own small publishing company, it seemd like the place to turn for inspiration. I actually found the word "Jabberwocky" listed in a much-too-thick dictionary, where it was said to refer to things that were "odd, strange, or unusual". Well, that felt like the right word to cover the majority of my artistic output, and thus "Jabberwocky Graphix" was born.

I've done various small illustrations from the stories over the years, even attempted to sell an "Alice in Wonderland" coloring book as a companion to my "Aesop's Fables" collection some years ago. But finally, as the end of the century approached, it seemed time to do my versionof the company namesake. I spent some time researching the poem an epic bit of "nonsense" writing that has fewer non-meaning words than youmight assume, and even those are "designed", as it were, for the look and sound they give. Many of the stranger words are actually real ones from Carroll's time, or artful combinings of multiple sources.
Each copy of "Jabberwocky" that I sell comes with a long printed sheet giving the definitions, such as I could find, for 28 of the words it contains, along with a description of how those words were interpreted in the drawing itself. (And if you're an Alice fan and want to see something completely different, check out my small Cheshire Cat from Outer Space drawing as well.
This is a limited-edition print, each copy signed & numbered by the artist. It is created from a film negative made directly from the original pen and ink artwork, then retouched by the artist, and printed by offset lithography on Cougar-white paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
