My idea here was to not only delve once more into the world of Argent Park and it's stunning living metal creatures, but to also create a picture that reflected my own inner emotional world in a symbolic way. Most people who know me will say I am a rather even-tempered individual. I have passions as does everyone else, but I see those passions, as represented by these huge, straining horses, as being held in check and controlled by my intellect, the thin but powerful lines of the reins that hold them in place, lest they break free to create havoc in the world. Inspired in part by a portion of a Dürer engraving, this image was almost ten full years in the making, going through a series of sketches and refinements over time to capture exactly the final pose and tension I saw in my mind, and finally transferred to the paper through pen and ink.

This is a limited-edition print, each copy signed & numbered by the artist. It is created from a film negative made directly from the original artwork, then retouched by the artist, and printed by offset lithography on 65# Cougar paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
