So, you mean you haven't already sold all your worldly belongings, bought an old VW bus, and dedicated your life to following Brad Foster around the country to every art festival, science fiction and comic book convention, renaissance festival, Irish fest, cat show, high school craft fair, church bazaar, and who knows what else that he pushes his display into in order to try to move some of this inventory?
    Really?
No Brad-heads at all out there? Oh well.
You can still do some virtual travel back in time to check out some of those moments you missed. Like, for instance, these:

ApolloCon June
27 - 29 / 2008
ApolloCon
Houston, TX     —    www.apollocon.org
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention
This is the fifth ApolloCon, and looks like they've run out of artists, since this year they are honoring little ol' me as the Artist Guest of Honor. What does that mean for you? Well, you still need to come to a fun convention full of other wonderful writers and artists, art and events. It just means I'll be a little more embarrassed than usual that people are doing nice things for me, and so will try my best to make them not regret it. Right now working on new artwork for the program book and the convention badge. So, if you're trying to get the most complete collection of my art in print, you'd better show up and get yours!

Dallas City Arts Celebration
June
13 - 15 / 2008
Dallas City Arts Celebration
Dallas, TX     —    www.dallascityarts.com/
Juried Arts Festival
This can turn out to be a hot show. It is, after all, downtown in the arts district of Dallas in the middle of the summer. But there are plenty of shade trees around, and I got a new fan for my tent, so drop on in and cool down. I mean, it's gonna be hot all over the city, you might as well enjoy the art and music here! And it's not just the artists out on the street, but many of the museums and galleries here put on special shows during the festival, too. So put on some sunscreen and drop on by!

SoonerCon 2008 June
6 - 8 / 2008
SoonerCon
Oklahoma City, OK     —    www.soonercon.com
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention
This long-running and much missed Oklahoma convention was recently revised, and is growing again into a great regional show for fans of sf, fantasy, comics, media and all kinds of that weird entertainment that makes life so much fun. There will be a lot of big name writer and artist guests, but I'm personally excited 'cause one of my own favorite sf artists, Tom Kidd, is the main artist guest of honor. Oh, I'll be there too, with my usual dealers room and art show setups, but trust me, there will be a lot of other things for you to do than hang around me, wondering why I'm so slow at producing new work!

Paseo Arts Festival May
24 - 26 / 2008
Paseo Arts Festival
Oklahoma City, OK     —    www.thepaseo.com/events/paseofestival
Juried Arts Festival
A great festival in Oklahoma City, put on by the Paseo Arts District, a wonderful mix of shops and galleries on the west side of town. This annual festival brings in artists from all around the country. I was pleased to be accepted in again this year (there is no guarantee from year to year on this one!), and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there. It's always a great mix of art down the winding streets of the Paseo, so come check it out!

Lawton Arts for All Festival
May
9 - 11 / 2008
Lawton Arts for All Festival
Lawton, OK     —    www.artsforallfestival.org
Juried Arts Festival
This small town in Oklahoma hosts one of the nicest art festivals I've had the pleasure to exhibit in. Tucked in the southwest corner of the state, they really get together a great group of artists in the lovely town park, and, although this means more to me than you, do up a wonderful Sunday morning breakfast for all the exhibitors. But it really is a great show, and if you are in the area, come look me up.

Old Pecan Street Festival
May
3 - 4 / 2008
Old Pecan Street 30th Spring Festival
Austin, TX     —    www.oldpecanstreetfestival.com
Juried Arts Festival
The Pecan Street Festival is held twice a year in the Spring and Fall, and it looks like, due to a couple of shows shifting their dates this year, I'm only going to be able to show my work at the Spring festival this year. So drop on by and be sure to buy twice as much stuff, since you won't get your usual second chance in the fall!

Denton Arts & Jazz Festival
April
25 - 27 / 2008
Denton Arts & Jazz Festival
Denton, TX     —    www.dentonjazzfest.com
Juried Music and Arts Festival
Held in the Denton Civic Center Park in the heart of downtown Denton, this 2 ˝ day event is free to the public. There are six stages with jazz, blues and cross-cultural music. Around 160 artists and crafters offer a wide range of art and styles. I'll be set up inside the Civic Center building- it's always nice to have a roof overhead in case of bad weather! There's a large outdoor kids section, food everywhere, and tons of music all day and into the night. This is one of my favorite festivals to show at. Even if we won the lottery, I would probably keep setting up at this one, it's so much fun to do.

Bath House Cultural Center April
18 - 20 / 2008
Bath House Cultural Center Spring Art Mart
Dallas, TX     —    www.bathhousecultural.com/08springsale
Juried Arts Show
This show features around three dozen select artists setting up their own displays of paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery, ceramics, jewelry, cards and other unique creations for the weekend, along with food, music, a silent auction and more. It all benefits the Bath House's year-round visual and performing arts programs. I'll be in the main gallery room. It's a different setting for such a show, and a fun way to spend a few hours. Come on by!

Deep Ellum Arts Festival April
4 - 6 / 2008
Deep Ellum Arts Festival
Dallas, TX     —    www.meifestivals.com
Juried Arts Festival
One of my favorite local shows, I've been setting up here since the very first event. I always love the very wide range of artists who show up. From their site: "Deep Ellum is the Metroplex's most progressive and eclectic neighborhood. The Deep Ellum Arts Festival exemplifies everything that makes this area rock. The biggest weekend of the year for the Deep Ellum Entertainment District, this free-to-attend outdoor "street party" features four outdoor stages with non-stop performances by over 65 national, regional, and local original bands during this three-day festival. With more than 100 top-notch juried decorative and visual artists, poetry slams, muralist, the renowned pet parade, 5K run and The Rock Art Show, and abundant food and drink, the Deep Ellum Arts Festival attracts a diverse audience and includes affluent art and music enthusiasts. This is an adult-oriented festival -- there is no "kid" stuff." Pick a day and come on down to see the art and watch the crowd!

North Texas Irish Festival February 29 -
March 2 / 2008
North Texas Irish Festival
Ft. Worth, TX     —    www.ntif.org
Music and Arts Festival
One of the largest Celtic cultural events in the nation, I set up my full art display here. The dragons and fantasy stuff are my tenuous tie-in to the Irish and Celtic themes. There are other artists, but the main focus is all things Irish, with dozens of world-famous bands, award-winning dancers, story tellers and workshops. Irish and international foods, and you can get a stein of your favorite beer and wander the hundreds of displays.

ConDFW February
22 - 24 / 2008
ConDFW - Science Fiction Convention
Dallas, TX     —    www.condfw.org
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention
I've been showing my art and 'zines at this local convention for a couple of years, and always have a great time. Along with a host of other writers and artists, the two big-name guests this year will be author Peter Beagle and artist Donato Giancola. So if you get tired of talking to me, there will be lots of other creative folks to meet. Come on by!

Bath House Cultural Center Febrary 9 -
March 1 / 2008
El Corazon
Dallas, TX     —    www.bathhousecultural.com/corazon2008
Group Gallery Exhibition
This exhibit features interpretations of the human heart (El Corazón), a significant symbol in Mexican art, and a significant theme in western culture. I submitted a couple of pieces for the show, and was fortunate to get one chosen to be included with all the othr fine artists here. As with past shows, you'll find a wide array of paintings, sculptures, photography, and mixed-media pieces. For my own part, I've been inspired by the idea, and I'm planning to continue to expore the heart image theme on my own. So, come see where it all started!

Bath House Cultural Center January 5 -
February 2 / 2008
'Til We Meet Again
Dallas, TX     —    www.bathhousecultural.com/meetagain
Group Gallery Exhibition
I was fortunate enough to have two of my pieces juried into this new group show at the Bath House Cultural Center. This one was something different, as the artist was required to do a set of postcard-sized pieces, to reflect their take on the idea of "farewell" and "homecoming". My own entries tend more toward the humorous, as usual, but I am expecting a nice mix of approaches and styles from the Dallas area artists that will be represented here. You can get more information on the theme and who will be showing by clicking on the link above.

Unity Church Dallas December
7 - 9 / 2007
Unity Church Art Market
Dallas, TX     —    www.unitydallas.org
Church Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair
This is the first year for this new church-affiliated art, and it sounds like they're working hard to make it a more arts-oriented, less beads-on-a-string kind of thing. I'll be there with my full ten-by-ten setup, and since this will be my last show of the season, be sure to drop on by and stock up for all your holiday gift-giving art needs!

Bath House Cultural Center November
16 - 18 / 2007
Bath House Cultural Center Winter Art Mart
Dallas, TX     —    www.bathhousecultural.com
Juried Arts Show
This show features around 40 or so artists and artisans setting up their own displays of paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery, ceramics, jewelry, cards and other unique creations for the weekend, along with food, music, a silent auction and more. It all benefits the Bath House's year-round visual and performing arts programs. I'll be set up in the Main Gallery this year. Come shop for yourself, and come shop for some Christmas gifts!

Mary Immaculate Craft Fair November
10 -11, 2007
Mary Immaculate Craft Fair
Farmers Branch, TX     —    www.maryimmaculatechurch.org
Church crafts fair
I've been setting up my display in this local crafts fair for a few years now, and always have a good time. There's a nice Christmas vibe, lots of folks visiting and having a good time, and the church volunteers have all kinds of good eats available. The focus is definitely more handmade craft oriented than my usual shows, but heck, my drawings are hand made, and I have fun setting up in my corner of the gym each year. Come by, have some waffles, and check us out.

November
3 - 4, 2007
Carroll Senior High School Craft Fair
Southlake, TX     —    www.southlakecarroll.edu
School crafts fair
Another of those fun year end craft fairs where I set up with a somewhat smaller display, but still try to bring all the goodies I can. I'll be at space #153. backed to the wall of windows looking out into the parking lot. Come on by, get some Christmas gifts, get an "Inner Bot" portrait for yourself or a loved one, and watch out for the high school kids pushing all the great desert snacks~ I know I probably added a few pounds last year from the brownies!

Bath House Cultural Center October 13 -
November 10 / 2007
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ~ Day of the Dead
Dallas, TX     —    www.bathhousecultural.com/dod2007
Group Gallery Exhibition
The Bath House Cultural Center has been presenting an annual Day of the Dead art exhibition since 1986, and I was lucky enough to get a piece accepted into the show this year. I've seen some amazing work here, a huge variety of styles and approaches to the theme, and am very proud to be a part of it for 2007. Drop by to check out all the art (but be sure to tell the folks there how much you like my piece in particular!)

Huffhines Art Trails October
27 - 28 / 2007
Huffhines Art Trails
Richardson, TX     —    www.huffhinesarttrails.com
Juried Arts Festival
Come visit in the great setting of this art festival, with artist tents set up along the winding trails and under the tall trees of Huffhines Park in Richardson, just north of Dallas. This is the last large outdoor show I do each year, and it's always nice to have it held in such a pretty place. Come enjoy the art, the food, the music, and maybe even drop a few bucks my way for some artwork to take home, too!

Red River Revel Arts Festival September 29 -
October 6 / 2007
Red River Revel Arts Festival
Shreveport, LA     —    www.redriverrevel.com
Juried Arts Festival
One of my favorite festivals each year, I'd do this one even if we won the lottery and I wasn't worried about money any more. A week long show held on a permanent festival site in downtown Shreveport, with dozens of musical acts and hundreds of artists, and tons of food. I hope you'll come one day to see my own work, but there is plenty of other great artists showing up each year as well. Come buy something from us before you go lose it all in the casinos just down the street!

Jazz by the Blvd September
21 - 23 / 2007
Jazz By The Boulevard
Ft. Worth, TX     —    www.fortworthjazz.com
Juried Arts & Music Festival
I always enjoy this fall festival, at least those years the weather has been kind to us, but that is true of every outdoor festival! Artist tents are set up around a lovely small park in downtown Ft. Worth, which means I get to enjoy the amazingly fine jazz music every year along with the people strolling about. Free admission, so drop by and say "hi!"

Arts Festival Oklahoma August 31 -
September 3
2007
Arts Festival Oklahoma
Oklahoma City, OK     —    www.occc.edu/afo/
Juried Arts Festival
The layout has been changed slightly for the show this year, moving all the big tents into a side-by-side configuration, but it is still right there on the grounds of the Oklahoma City Community College, so you can't miss us! It's a long show, running over the four day holiday weekend, and featuring around 150 artists! There's a nice variety in this show each year, and I like that it leans the slightest bit more toward the 2-D hanging art than others. Lots to see, plus music and food and, like all these festivals, great people watching to go with the art-watching.

Lazy Dragon Con August
3 - 5 / 2007
Lazy Dragon Con
Dallas, TX     —    www.lazydragon.com/con
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention
This is a brand new convention in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, put on by the guys from Lazy Dragon, purveyors of fine swords, knives, and assorted bits of weirdness. Promoted as a "Relaxacon", it's a Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention with a lower profile, where you come to spend more time visiting and, well, relaxing, than trying to keep up with the usual round of three tracks of programming, panels and such. Like a big convention, only on a smaller scale. Look, just come on by and check it out for yourself. Like I said, it's their first time, so who knows what will happen? I'll be there in the dealer's room, so say hi and check out what's new from Jabberwocky.

Dallas Comic Con June 30 -
July 1 / 2007
Dallas Comic Con
Dallas, TX     —    www.dallascomiccon.com
Comics Convention
Another fun local convention in the Dallas area, and one I'm not always able to attend. This summer they managed to find a little space for me at the last minute in the Artist Alley section, so I'll be showing up with a smaller collection of art, a few more of my comics, and mainly be there to see if anyone would be interested in getting their "Inner Robot" portrait done. It's the middle of the summer in Texas, so come inside the air conditioned comfort of the Richardson Civic Center and meet up with a bunch of crazy comics folks!

Dallas City Arts Celebration
June
8 - 10 / 2007
Dallas City Arts Celebration
Dallas, TX     —    www.dallascityarts.com/
Juried Arts Festival
I exhibited at this festival for the first time last summer and had a great time. And yes, it can get very hot in Dallas in the summer. But since it will be hot everywhere, come on downtown, enjoy all the artists and music lining the streets of the arts district, plus if they follow up with same ideas as last year, many of the amazing museums right off the street displays will have free admission to all their shows as well. (As well, I've requested the same location I had last year, out front of the Meyerson Symphony Center among the cool and shady trees. Best spot of the whole show, so come and say hi!)

Paseo Arts Festival May
26 - 28 / 2007
Paseo Arts Festival
Oklahoma City, OK     —    www.thepaseo.com/events/paseofestival
Juried Arts Festival
This is a great festival! Held in the Paseo Arts District, a wonderful mix of shops and galleries, this is their annual big show bringing in artists from all around the country. I've done it a couple of times, and there is always something new and unique to see among the artists there. (It's also a tough show to get into: I won an award for my work in 2005, but I didn't even get accepted in to exhibit the following year! So, I was pleased to be juried in once more this year.)

Lawton Arts for All Festival
May
11 - 13 / 2007
Lawton Arts for All Festival
Lawton, OK     —    www.lawtonafa.org/Festival
Juried Arts Festival
This small town in Oklahoma hosts one of the nicest art festivals I've had the pleasure to exhibit in. Tucked in the southwest corner of the state, they really get together a great group of artists in the lovely town park, and, although this means more to me than you, do up a wonderful Sunday morning breakfast for all the exhibitors. But it really is a great show, and if you are in the area, come look me up. (Right now the web link above goes to information about the 2006 show, but I'm sure they will be updating that soon.)

Old Pecan Street Festival
May
5 -6 / 2007
Old Pecan Street 29th Spring Festival
Austin, TX     —    www.oldpecanstreetfestival.com
Juried Arts Festival
I've been doing this semi-yearly festival for over 15 years now, and always look forward returning to funky 6th street in downtown Austin for the enthusiastic crowds of art lovers. The show stretches for blocks, with over 200 artists and crafters. They toss in a couple of music stages and some theatre performers for a fully-rounded arts experience. I try to do my best to help with the semi-unofficial city slogan of "Keep Austin Weird". I'll be set up close to the store-front pizza vendors! Grab yourself a slice and then wander over to my tent to see the latest pieces.

Denton Arts & Jazz Festival
April
27 - 29 / 2007
Denton Arts & Jazz Festival
Denton, TX     —    www.dentonjazzfest.com

Even if we won the lottery, I would probably keep setting up at this one, it's so much fun to do.

Bath House Cultural Center April
20 - 22 / 2007
Bath House Cultural Center Spring Art Mart
Dallas, TX     —    www.bathhousecultural.com
Juried Arts Show
This show features only 40 or so artists and artisans setting up their own displays of paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery, ceramics, jewelry, cards and other unique creations for the weekend, along with food, music, a silent auction and more. It all benefits the Bath House's year-round visual and performing arts programs. I'm usually set up in the theatre section, other artists display along the halls, or in one of the two main gallery rooms. It's a different setting for such a show, and a fun way to spend a few hours. Come on by!

Deep Ellum Arts Festival April
6 - 8 / 2007
Deep Ellum Arts Festival
Dallas, TX     —    www.meifestivals.com

One of my favorite local shows, I've been setting up here since the very first event. I always love the very wide range of artists who show up. Medieval Fair of Norman March 30 -
April 1 / 2007
31st Annual Medieval Fair of Norman
Norman, OK     —    medievalfair.org
Medieval / Renaissance Fair
It's been several years since we last set up at this fair, the largest weekend event in Oklahoma with over 300,000 folks. Come check it out yourself! The admission is free, there is all sorts of entertainment including minstrels, dancing, theater and reenactments, jugglers, magicians, knights jousting on horseback and human chess games. Cindy and I will be dressed up in costume, though the performers really get into it and you can meet King Arthur, mermaids, and the fair's king and queen.(For those who've never been to a Medieval / Renaissance Fair, you don't have to dress up, just those of us working there do that. Come comfortably and enjoy a day of something different!)

North Texas Irish Festival March
2 - 4 / 2007
North Texas Irish Festival
Ft. Worth, TX     —    www.ntif.org
Music and Arts Festival
One of the largest Celtic cultural events in the nation, I set up my full art display here. The dragons and fantasy stuff are my tenuous tie-in to the Irish and Celtic themes. There are other artists, but the main focus is all things Irish, with dozens of world-famous bands, award-winning dancers, story tellers and workshops. Irish and international foods, and you can get a stein of your favorite beer and wander the hundreds of displays.

ConDFW February
23 - 25 / 2007
ConDFW - Science Fiction Convention
Dallas, TX     —    www.condfw.org
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention
I've been showing my art and 'zines at this local convention for a couple of years, and always a great time. The best quick explanation of what they're all about is off their site: "ConDFW is a literary science fiction and fantasy convention. As such, attendees can mingle with the author and artist guests, attend panel discussions and readings led by the guests, get books signed, look at and buy SF and fantasy art from artists around the country, shop in a dealer's room with books, art, games, clothing, weapons, and other items, donate used books to charity (and get some others in return), play games (both tabletop and live-action), or just hang out and talk to guests and attendees in the consuite or the hotel bar."

October
28 - 29 / 2006
Huffhines Art Trails
Richardson, TX     —    www.huffhinesarttrails.com
Juried Arts Festival
This is the last of the outdoor art festivals I do in the year, and it is a lovely setting, with all the artist tents spread around the walking trail of Huffhines Park in Richardson, just north of Dallas. In the past some of these have had lovely weather, some have been quite cold, and it's always fun strolling through a lovely park on a cool weekend in Texas, checking out all the different art being offered by hundreds of artists. Come by and say hi!

Red River Revel Arts Festival October
7 - 14 / 2006
Red River Revel Arts Festival
Shreveport, LA     —    www.redriverrevel.com
Juried Arts Festival
I love this festival! When I started showing here in 1997, I only did the second half of the week-long event. Then two years ago I realized there wasn't anything better, and now I'm there for the entire eight day run of this show. It's set up on a permanent festival site in downtown Shreveport, with dozens of musical acts and hundreds of artists, tons of food. It's one of the longest shows I do, but I look forward to it every year. Come see why!

September 30-
October 1
2006
Old Pecan Street 25th Fall Festival
Austin, TX     —    www.oldpecanstreetfestival.com
Juried Arts Festival
I first set up my tent at the Old Pecan Street Festival in 1992, and this was my tenth time back. I always love this show on funky 6th street in downtown Austin, and look forward to seeing folks there each year. The semi-unofficial slogan for this city is "Keep Austin Weird", and I try to do my part to help with that.

FenCon III September
22 -24 / 2006
FenCon III
Dallas, TX     —    www.fencon.org
Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention
This was the first time I did this local convention, and had a lot of fun. I even had a couple of cartoons in the Program Book, and got to illustrate an Alan Dean Foster story! Check it out!

Jazz by the Boulevard September
15 - 17 / 2006
Jazz by the Boulevard
Ft. Worth, TX     —    www.fortworthjazz.com
Jazz and Juried Arts Festival
Free admission for all the great jazz acts and art displays. I love jazz, and my only regret is not being able to get away from my own display often enough to listen to some of the great acts that play all day. Headliners this year will include Branford Marsalis, Chuck Mangione and Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Arts Festival Oklahoma September
1 - 4 / 2006
Arts Festival Oklahoma
Oklahoma City, OK     —    www.occc.edu/afo/
Juried Arts Festival
This was my second time to show here. Held under several huge tents on the grounds of Oklahoma City Community College, it's a four day show with around 150 artists, a variety of music including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, and crowds of some 30,000 people over the four days, for plenty of people-watching opportunities!
