In the early nineties I was lucky enough to get to play in the big time of comics when my old "Newave" comics pal Jim Valentino helped found the mega-comics company Image. He hired me in the middle of his series of "Shadowhawk" comics to work on the backgrounds. (As I recall it, after seeing some of my more detailed prints, he figured I was the only person he knew who would be nuts enough to actually enjoy drawing all those little buildings and hundreds of windows that he wanted to give his character a proper urban background.) He even gave me a new comics credit line: I was the "Big Background Artist", since I only worked on those pages and panels where the background was a significantly important part of the drawing. This was a generous gesture on his part, as many of the bigger artists of the day actually had several assistants on their titles, but gave them no printed credits.
When I turned in my pages for the third issue of the second series, Jim contacted me and said he liked the results on the final page, and he thought it might be nice as a black & white print that I could publish through Jabberwocky. I said I'd give it a shot, but only if he signed them along with me, since I knew it was his name that would really move these to the collectors! He agreed, and then had me dump 500 of these things in his lap!
This print is now down to the last sixty or so copies, and is probably one of the rarer collectibles from the hey day of Image comics. (And if you'd like to check out the color version of this piece, I have a limited number of copies of the trade paperback collection of that second series, "Shadowhawk: The Secret Revealed" available, along with a few other back issues.)

--Info on the printing process, plus care & feeding instructions--
This is a limited-edition print, each copy signed & numbered by the artists. It is created from a film negative made directly from the original pen and ink artwork, then retouched by the artist, and printed by offset lithography on Mountie Matt paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
