This piece depicts a highly skilled belly dancer balancing three swords while performing her intricate dance, keeping them all in perfect balance as she moves and sways. It was inspired from seeing such a fascinating performance at the Scarbrough Renaissance Festival in Texas, then taking that performance and placing it in one of my detailed fantasy settings. This is also the first of what I hope will be a series of such portraits, based on the exotic art of belly dancing. But then, just about every drawing I do gives me so many new ideas, they could all be the start of a series! (There has been a smaller follow-up, a portrait of another dancer I later met, called Dark Dancer you might want to check out.)

This is an open-edition print, created from a film negative made directly from the original artwork, and printed by offset lithography on Starwhite paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
