While this image is set square in the middle of Argent Park, it also serves as a bridge of sorts between that world and others I have created, both artistically and thematically.
Artistically, this was a way to incorporate several of my various pen and ink drawing styles (the hard edge line of cross hatching, and the softer feel of pure pointillism), along with a number of different visual interests (animals, architecture, exotic human faces), into a single all-embracing image. The original artwork from which this print has been reduced measures approximately 20" x 26", and took over a year to complete.
Thematically, this was to be the first of a series of images based around the idea of magic and, more specifically, of representing exotically realized magicians set in their own worlds of wonder. While Thaumaturge is clearly not a native resident of the living metal world of Argent Park, I felt it was the perfect magical background for the first image in this series. The structure derives from my study of architecture and is, like the creatures of Argent Park, an attempt to take reality and give it the extra "twist" of design and ornamentation, to make it something other worldly, yet still oddly familiar. And for those who doubt the skill of my mage here, please note he has produced a rabbit without even removing his own chapeau!

--Info on the printing process, plus care & feeding instructions--
This is a limited-edition print, each copy signed & numbered by the artist. It is created from a film negative made directly from the original artwork, then retouched by the artist, and printed by offset lithography on 65# Starwhite paper stock. Mounting and matting materials are either low-acid or acid-free. To maintain the quality of this work, do not display it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, or to extremes of temperature or humidity. I also recommend that you look at it once it is up on your wall (at least six times a week is considered the minimum), or else it will get sad and lonely, and the tear-stains will make it look less attractive.
